Thai students bag 1 gold, 3 silvers at Chemistry Olympiad

BANGKOK, 31 July 2015 – Thai students have put the country in the academic spotlight again after having brought home one gold and three silver medals at the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad in Azerbaijan.

The medalists are Weerapat Yotamornsunthorn, Ruangrawee Kittichotekul, Noppasit Wittayapalert and Pakapol Prachyathammakorn from Traim Udom Suksa School and Mahidol Wittayanusorn School.

According to Dr. Torsak Luanphaisarnnont, leader of the student team, this year’s International Chemistry Olympiad was joined by 290 representatives from 75 countries. He said the students’ success can be accredited to the team’s preparedness.

Dr. Torsak added that the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology and related agencies will continue to seek and support students with academic talent to represent the country for next competitions.
