BANGKOK – The Immigration Bureau of Thailand has investigated the matter regarding the National Intelligence Agency’s information about three Uyghurs who might enter the kingdom to potentially attack Chinese tourists’ places of interests.

The names of the three reported Uyghur extremists are Hid Yet Dursun, Ali Yalcin Ergin, and Ali Yalcin, all holding Turkish passports.

Immigration Bureau Commander Pol Lt Gen Nattorn Prohsunthorn revealed that only Ali Yalcin has two records of entering the kingdom; on 18 March 2016 to stay for 2 days, and on 24 March 2016 to stay for 4 days, according to the Immigration Bureau’s databases.

Pol Lt Gen Nattorn added that Ali Yalcin had entered the kingdom as a tourist, and the visa is not required under the visa exemption agreement between Thailand and Turkey. However, the names of these alleged extremists are now on the watch list and the system will notify when they travel to the kingdom next time.

Meanwhile, Police Chief Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda said the Royal Thai Police is always on high alert and closely monitoring possible terrorist activities. The police chief today called a preparatory meeting on terror attacks responding measures via video conference with police officers nationwide, also with participation from military officials.
