BANGKOK, 1 July 2015 -The Thai-Myanmar Township Border Committee (TBC) has insisted that no Burmese soldiers have engaged in a fight with ethnic minorities near the Thai-Burmese border.

The 83rd TBC conference has recently been held in Tha Khee Lek city of Myanmar, with Army officials from both countries joining the event.

Colonel Prapat Pobsuwan of the King Guard, 2nd Calvary Division from Thailand chaired the meeting.

Myanmar claimed no skirmish between Burmese soldiers and the ethnic minority armed forces has taken place along the Thai-Burmese border as rumored.

Thailand, however, said it has discovered that the United Wa State Army, one of the ethnic minority armies, has set up 7 camps on the border adjacent to Chiang Mai province.

The ethnic army has allegedly violated border regulations and trespassed into the Sai and Ruak Rivers bordering the two nations. Burmese officials have been asked to urge them to move away from the area.
