Surin launches sufficiency living campaign

SURIN, 5 April 2015 – Farmers in Surin province gathered to observed the sufficiency living models in the province to promote sustainable lifestyle in accordance to the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.

The Vice Governor Of Surin Winai Torgchitpitak has revealed that there are many role models who are considered as ‘folk scholars’ in the sufficiency economy philosophy. Therefore, the province held the sufficiency living learning campaign, bringing farmers in to learn the sustainable lifestyle from the role model and examples.

Role model persons in Surin province includes Mr. Suwan Kanpai, a ‘folk scholar’ on sustainable lifestyle and democracy who has hosted the sufficiency economy learning activity at his 35 rai joint plantation with the concept ‘sufficiency economy philosophy = precept, contemplation, and wisdom’.

According to Mr Suwan, the sustainable lifestyle starts from self consideration and understanding self appropriateness to achieve a core understanding of the sufficiency economy philosophy that can be adapted to every activity.

Mr Suwan’s joint plantation currently produces many fruits and vegetable all year round, generating a sufficient income to the household and serves as a foundation for the generation.
