BANGKOK, 7 August 2015 – The standing committee on foreign affairs has claimed the U.S. human trafficking report does not reflect the true situation in Thailand.

According to Chairman of the standing committee on foreign affairs Pilaipan Sombatsiri, the committee is skeptical about the way the report was compiled.

She said the report did not mention how hard Thailand had been working to solve the issue. Mrs. Pilai also claimed that the report would be subject to questioning by U.S. senators who reportedly were of the idea that the ranking was politicized and did not reflect the true situation

Meanwhile, Royal Thai Police Chief Police General Somyos Poompanmuang also expressed similar views regarding the report.

He added, however, that it would be impossible for an elected government to keep human traffickers at bay, as local politicians tend to protect their political strongholds.
