Songkhla launches road safety campaign before Songkran Festival

SONGKHLA 1 April 2014  —Songkhla Provincial Land Transport Office has launched a campaign to prevent serious road accidents during the upcoming Songkran Festival.

Yongyuth Nakdang, the Director of Songkhla Provincial Land Transport Office, said that the campaign has been taking place since March 10th and will continue until April 10th, ending just before the Thai New Year Festival. Officials have already been dispatched to inspect buses at Hat Yai public bus station.

He revealed that the campaign includes checking public buses including bus structural stability, and drivers who will also undergo a check for alcohol use.

Should passengers find any driver engaged in risky behavior, for example, driving over the speed limit, driving under the influence of alcohol, or being impolite, please contact the Songkhla Public-Bus Passenger Protection Center 1584 hotline, around the clock.
