YALA, 6 November 2014 – Yala’s security authorities has launched a massive searching operation to prevent any unforeseen incident in the Loy Krathong festival, which has officially kicked off nationwide.

It is a joint operation between police, army and provincial security officers to search for suspects who have allegedly plotted attacks in the province.

Six villages were thoroughly searched on Thursday but the search team did not find any suspect. Authorities said the operation was to send a warning to those who want to cause violence.

Moreover, security in Yala’s municipal area has been tightened, with more patrol units deployed to prevent the city from disruption during the festive event.
