School in Loei Province catches fire

LOEI, 7 May 2013 Fire has broken out at a 40-year-old school in Loei Province, causing damage of over 3 million baht. The police suspected that the fire was caused by short circuit. However, no fatalities or injuries were reported. 

The fire broke out at a 2-storey wooden building in Baan Khon Kaen School, located in Loei Province. Firefighters took nearly 2 hours to get the situation under control. After a quick inspection, many items were found destroyed, including 16 computers, 3 television sets, 2 satellite dishes, etc. The damage is believed to be approximately 3 million baht worth. At present, the police suspected the electrical circuit was the cause of the fire blaze.

According to the school principal, the building was built in 1967, or 46 years ago. It was renovated in 2009 when the principal took office. Since then, the building had been used as library, conference room, teacher’s break room, etc.
