SAKON NAKHON – Sakon Nakhon province has unveiled a free-range, wild pig-farming island as its newest tourist attraction.

The provincial authorities let on that the island is located in the province’s famous Nong Han lake and is home to more than a thousand wild pigs. They said tourists can take a boat to the island and engage in several activities, such as sightseeing, hiking, pig feeding, and learning more about the lifestyle of Nong Han locals.

Officials said the island first served as a free-range, farming area for wild pigs, whose numbers grew exponentially over time. They explained that pig farmers mark their livestock with paint, in order to identify ownership in the cage-free environment.
