Rainmaker unit to step up operations in Sa Kaeo

SA KAEO, 19 July 2015 – The Royal Rainmaking Unit has increased the frequency of rainmaking operations to help relieve the agricultural damage caused from low precipitation.

The government has ordered the Royal Rainmaking Unit at the 602 ‘Wattananakhon’ Air Squadron to provide two daily rounds of rainmaking operations, in the attempt to induce precipitation to ease the drought conditions.

Rainfall shortages has continued to harm farms and their crops in Sa Kaeo Province which includes rice farms, tapioca farms, sugarcane crops, corn crops, oil palm crops, and fruit farms due to cultivation water shortages.

However in some areas in Sa Kaeo Province, namely the Muaeng Sa Kaeo, Khao Chakan, Wattananakhon, and Aranyaprathet Districts, the recent rainfall has provided the areas with sufficient water for cultivation.

Farmers in Sa Kaeo Province are urged to follow weather forecasts, reach out to the local administrative organizations should they need any help, and to attend the activities held by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, initiated by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn aiming to provide relief to drought affected farmers and to help them find alternative sources of income.
