BANGKOK, 17 July 2015 – Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has denied a rumor that the Cabinet would consider a change to its economic team.

Gen Prayut has indicated there is no need for a Cabinet reshuffle at the moment. He said the rumors were nothing but false interpretations made by members of the media while reiterating that all ministers were working to the best of their ability. He added that unless thing goes horribly wrong, a Cabinet reshuffle is unlikely.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan indicated that the Prime Minister would determine whether or not a Cabinet shake-up is necessary. However, the Defence Minister has shown confidence in the ability and determination of the current economic team. He urged all to understand that it was a difficult task for the team to revive the domestic economy given the sagging global economy.
