Police operations in Deep South based on Muslim Chief’s guidelines


BANGKOK, 10 July 2013 National Police Spokesperson Pol Maj Gen Piya Uthayo has revealed that security operations carried out by the police in the Deep South will be based on the Muslim Chief’s guidelines. 

The National Police Spokesperson stated on the first day of the Ramadan today that police operations during and after the holy month were to assure the safety of all residents in the 3 southernmost provinces.

According to the Spokesperson, the Muslim Chief has provided guidelines on how to carry out their safety procedures, and for Muslim police on how to perform their duties with respect to the holy month.

Meanwhile, Commander of the Southern Border Police Operations Center Police Lieutenant General Paitoon Chuchaiya said police would patrol all risk-prone areas the same way as they have been doing in the restive south.
