Police Chief inspects security checkpoints at Suvarnabhumi Airport

BANGKOK – The Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police traveled to Suvarnabhumi Airport today to inspect the security checkpoints as part of the recent policy to bolster the country’s security. 

Commissioner-Gen Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda delivered his policy address to security officials at the airport and inspected the security and immigration procedures of the airport.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau Pol Lt Gen Nathathon Prausoontorn revealed that an average of 80,000 people travel through Suvarnabhumi Airport on a normal day and the number can increase to up to 120,000 on holidays.

He said that the Immigration Bureau places great importance on national security, particularly the issue of transnational crime, and will continue to incorporate new technologies in the inspection process. He also revealed that the airport plans to install biometric scanners to further bolster its security measures and to enhance the credibility of the Immigration Bureau
