BANGKOK, 14 May 2015 – A group of officials from the Prime Minister’s Office has traveled to the northeast region of the country to follow up on the progress of the development of a new special economic zone.

Deputy Permanent Secretary to the PM’s Office Chamroen Yutithamsakul, the deputy chairman of the subcommittee tasked with the responsibility to drive forward the special economic zone project, together with his team visited Mukdahan on Wednesday to get an update on an operation underway in the province.

Mr. Chamroen asked local officials, including Mukdahan governor Sakolkrit Boonpradit, to continue supporting the development of the Mukdahan special economic zone, which has been included in the government’s plan for 2015-2016.

Under this plan, the implementation of all five SEZ projects along Thailand’s border area, including Mukdahan, has begun since January 1, 2015.

Mr. Chamroen and his team also checked on the area where the SEZ would soon be established to get information related to the land preparation for investments expected once the zone is operational.
