PM thanks ministries for persevering through political impasse

BANGKOK, 17 April 2014  – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has expressed gratitude to civil servants in all ministries who have tackled economic problems and other issues arising from the ongoing political turmoil.

Permanent secretaries from all ministries paid a visit to the Prime Minister’s office to wish her Happy New Year during the Songkran festival.

Ms. Yingluck has thanked the visiting chiefs of offices for implementing measures to move the country forward and wished them happiness and prosperity in return.

The Prime Minister has also chaired a meeting with permanent secretaries to ask about the ministries’ performances after the festive period. She congratulated the Tourism, Sports, and Commerce Ministries for generating a higher number of visitors and for improved export figures during February.

Ms. Yingluck is currently facing allegations of dereliction of duty in handling the rice pledging scheme and of breaching the Constitution in regards to the transfer of National Security Council (NSC) chief Thawil Pliensri. If found guilty, she will be forced to step down as premier.
