BANGKOK, 30 April 2013  Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has explained her special lecture given during the recent Conference of the Community of Democracies in Mongolia, saying she only wanted to convey Thailand’s political experience.

The premier said she was intent on passing on Thailand’s political experience since the conference was a forum of democracy. She reaffirmed that the special lecture was not aimed at justifying her brother, self-exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Ms Yingluck said she would express the same political view in other democratic forums based on appropriateness and the situation.

The PM added that Thailand needed to reinforce democracy in order to restore confidence. She said her mission in Mongolia had two separate parts—doing her duty as the Thai Prime Minister and delivering a special lecture on democracy for the conference where many countries exchanged experiences for cooperation on democracy promotion.
