PM concerned over people affected by tropical thunderstorms

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha has expressed concerns over the people being affected by tropical thunderstorms and urged all government units to provide assistance to the victims.

He expressed his concerns over the northern, northeastern, central, and eastern region where the Meteorological Department (TMD) has warned to be aware of potential harms from summer thunderstorms.

He advised the general public in affected areas to follow instructions from the TMD, such as avoid being in open areas, under big trees, or near big billboards during the time of storm. He has also instructed provincial governors and local authorities to closely follow the development of the situation to provide timely response to emergency cases and damages.

The premier also expedited water resources management works to speed up the development of tap water network to ensure the availability in all villages, the development of water resources to enhance drainage during water season, and the development of four big natural water lakes in Thailand, namely Bueng Boraphet, Bueng Sifai, Phayao Lake, and Nong Han.

The government’s progress in water resources management operations will be communicated to the general public, informing them on the general information ow water storage and delivery system in each area, the current statistics in each region, government’s efforts to solve urgent issues, and the potential consequences from the lack of management.
