NLA reports amendments to human trafficking laws

BANGKOK, 3 July 2015 – The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has reported that all parties have been actively amending legislation on the prevention and elimination of human trafficking.

NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said the National Council for Peace and Order, the government and the NLA have collaborated in passing many laws. The legislature is currently deliberating an additional five bills forwarded by the Cabinet to expand their jurisdiction and enforcement.

Mr Pornpetch believes the country has achieved enough progress to prevent a trade embargo by the United States.

The NLA President added that all human trafficking-related laws will be translated into English and other languages, in order for the international community to take note of the country’s efforts in the matter.
