BANGKOK, 7 October 2014  The National Legislative Assembly has accepted the Animal Guardians Association (AGA) and its network’s request that they be allowed to participate in the deliberation of the animal cruelty prevention law.

Professor Phonphet Wichitchonchai, speaker of the National Legislative Assembly, on Monday accepted the suggestions submitted by Thai AGA secretary-general Roger Lohanan, ‘The Voice’ project chairperson Chonlada Mek-rati and other representatives of groups concerned with animal welfare. The suggestions were inputs for the upcoming Animal Cruelty Prevention and Animal Welfare Act, which had been under the deliberation of the previous assembly of the House of Representatives.

The representatives also asked that they be allowed to participate in the deliberation of the bill by the NLA.
