BANGKOK, 27 January 2016,  – The Department of Social Development and Welfare has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on developing a system to protect vagrants, beggars and less-fortunate individuals in 30 municipalities.

Social Development and Human Security Minister Pol General Adul Saengsingkaew signed the MOU which aims at creating participation in implementing the 2014 act on protecting homeless people, reducing the number of beggars on the street and providing rehabilitation and job training programs to homeless Thai nationals.

Under this MOU, participating local administrations would regularly organize seminars on vagrancy and beggar prevention and reduction, hold discussions to exchange ideas on the matter among themselves and develop a system to look after local vagrants and beggars.
