NCPO lifts curfew nationwide

BANGKOK, June 14 —  The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) on Friday night announced the lifting of the curfew across the country, effective immediately.

In a statement televised on national TV at around 9.10pm, the NCPO decided to lift the curfew nationwide to allay the impact on people’s daily life and tourism after there was no signs of violence in areas where the curfew from midnight to 4am was been imposed.

The announcement was issued following army chief and NCPO head Prayuth Chan-ocha’s weekly televised address.

The NCPO on June 10 lifted the midnight to 4am curfew in Kanchanaburi; Ratchaburi; Phetchaburi’s provincial seat, Khao Yoi, Nong Ya Plong, Tha Yang, Ban Lat, Ban Laem and Kaeng Krachan districts; Rayong, Chanthaburi; Trat’s provincial seat, Khao Saming, Bo Rai, Laem Ngop and Ko Kut districts; Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon; Roi Et, Loei, Surin, Tak, Sukhothai, Mae Hong Son, Uttaradit, Phrae, Nan, Songkhla’s provincial seat and Sadao district, Trang, Satun.

On June 3, NCPO lifted the curfew in three resort areas: Pattaya, Ko Samui and Phuket province, after considering that a curfew was no longer necessary and also as a means to boost tourism.

Cha-am and Hua Hin districts, as well as Krabi and Phang-nga provinces in the South had the curfew lifted on June 6.
