Nakhon Pathom hosts Desert Rose Competition 2014 with trophies from HRH Crown Princess

NAKHON PATHOM, 2 February 2014, -The Desert Rose or Chuan Chom Competition 2014, organized by Love Chuan Chom Club of Nakhon Pathom and the Nakhon Pathom Chamber of Commerce celebrates Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s birthday anniversary……this year her 59th. 

The event took place around Phra Pathom Chedi and featured various activities for visitors to enjoy. The Nakhon Pathom mayor presided over the opening ceremony where various beautiful desert rose plants were on display for judges to decide which would be the winners in this year’s competition.

Desert roses have boosted the local economy and are promoted as a part of ecotourism allowing visitors to enjoy beautiful flower plantations. This has also enhanced the good name of the province itself. The President of the Nakhon Pathom Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of desert rose exports as well as in domestic trading.

Planters from across the country joined the competition. The delighted winners who received the royally endorsed trophies came from Nonthaburi and Lopburi provinces.
