Milos Raonic claims Thailand Open 2013 trophy

BANGKOK, 29 September 2013  – Tennis World’s 11th-seeded Milos Raonic from Canada won the Thailand Open 2013 trophy for the first time, defeating Tomas Berdych.

The final round took place at IMPACT Arena Muang Thong Thani. Princess Ubol Ratana was among the crowd. World Number 6, Berdych, from Czech Republic was the top-seeded player in this tournament. He opened the game with full energy but towards the end of the first set, it was Raonic who dominated the match.

The Canadian put up 18 aces to beat the top seed 7-6 (7-4) and 6-3. Raonic took home around 3 million baht in prize money and the Thailand Open trophy. This his second title this year, after the first in San Jose.

In the doubles final, third-seeded Jamie Murray of Great Britain and John Peers beat fourth-seeded Tomasz Bednarek and Johan Brunstrom 6-3, 3-6, 10-6.
