BANGKOK, June 28 — Charae Panpruang, newly appointed Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the House of Representatives, said Saturday that he would initially set aside Bt10 billion budget for the Lower House to fully support the national reform council which will be established in the near future.

Mr Charae was promoted from deputy secretary-general of the House of Representatives in an announcement made by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) late Friday.

The promotion became effective immediately but will be endorsed by His Majesty the King after the new government is formed.

Besides routine tasks including supporting the work of the Lower House and administering meetings of its members, Mr Charae said he would have to support the work of the national reform council.

Supporting the council could be easier as it would have about 250 members, much less than the Lower House, he said.

Assistance would be focused on legal and academic matters.

Mr Charae said he would have to first study the duties of council members as well as drafting up to date regulations.
