Land Transport denies those whose driver’s licenses were confiscated must wait three years to reapply

BANGKOK – The Director General of the Department of Land Transport Sanit Phromwong has announced that those who have had their driver’s licenses confiscated will not be required to take a driving test as rumored in social media channels.

Mr Sanit denied the information posted on social media channels, claiming that those who have had their licenses confiscated won’t be able to apply for a new license for three years. After the three year period the rumors say, they will need to apply for a new driver’s license which will include taking driving tests along with new applicants.

He said that in fact, those who have had their licenses confiscated due to traffic offenses will need to follow the customary procedures in order to have their licenses returned.
