LAMPHUN – The Governor of Lamphun province has attended a teleconference with the Permanent Secretary of Interior to discuss ways to help drought-hit villagers.

The Cabinet in early October assigned the Ministry of Interior a key role in the drought-relief mission, which is meant to encourage public participation and address the needs of local communities.

The Cabinet stipulated that the aid measures must comply with communities’ decisions, directly benefit the affected groups, offer new employment and resolve any conflict among different groups of agriculturists.

Lamphun Governor Narong Onsa-ard has instructed district chiefs to work with community leaders and related private agencies to map out programs that meet these goals by November 15, in order to get aid funding approved.
