Japanese police commend Thai officials on apprehending Japanese yakuza figure

BANGKOK – Officials from the Embassy of Japan in Thailand have expressed their gratitude to Thai authorities for the recent arrest of a major Japanese mafia figure who had fled to Bangkok.

Pol Col Keisuke Hosaka, Secretary and Police Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan in Thailand, met with Pol Lt Gen Nathathorn Prousoontorn, Commissioner of the Thai Immigration Bureau to express his gratitude for the assistance from Thai officials. Pol Col Keisuke presented a certificate to Pol Lt Gen Nathathorn and related officials for their successful detention of Shuhei Yoshizawa, a prominent member of a Japanese Yakuza gang in Japan.

Japanese officials had issued an arrest warrant in the Japanese city of Kobe, over Mr Yoshizawa’s involvement in extortion, fraud and computer crime.

Pol Lt Gen Nathathorn said that Mr Yoshizawa will be sent back to Japan to face criminal charges.
