Human trade victim gets government & princess help

BANGKOK – The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has helped a man who was once lured into forced labor abroad.

Officials from the One Stop Crisis Center have visited a 40-year old man who was forced to into fishing slavery in Malaysia. The man claimed he managed to escape back to Thailand after having been maltreated for more than 20 years.

The former human trafficking victim is currently suffering a number of illnesses and lives mainly on food given by monks. Officials have offered him financial aid and consumption items in an initial stage of assistance.

The Miracle of Life Foundation under Princess Ubolratana is preparing to give him access to medical treatments.
