BANGKOK, 26 December 2014– The Highway Police has set up the “Highway 1193” Line ID to make it easier for the public to receive traffic information while traveling during the New Year’s period.

Police Major General Somchai Kaosamran, commander of the Highway Police, on Thursday inspected the readiness of Highway Police vehicles and their drivers in servicing the public during the New Year’s travel period. The inspection was made at the Highway Police service station in Pak Tho district, Ratchaburi province.

After briefing the Highway Police officers on maintaining public safety and facilitating traffic, the Highway Police commander handed out canned coffee to commuters who were passing the service station, and also distributed leaflets containing travel suggestions for commuters. The chief of the Highway Police indicated that people using highways can reach officials at the 1193 hotline, as well as through the “Highway 1193” Line ID.
