Foreign Minister attending ACMECS to promote regional cooperation

BANGKOK, 23 June 2015 -Foreign Minister General Thanasak Patimapakorn has attended the 6th Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) in Myanmar to promote regional bilateral relations.

Representatives of Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar also participated in the event, during which the Thai Foreign Minister told the ACMECS members that Thailand was determined to promote cooperation in 4 major areas.

The cooperation included developing transportation link among member nations, accommodating foreign investments, boosting regional tourism, and promoting sustainable development in terms of disease control, public health, food security and human resource.

The ACMECS should aim to draw at least 50 million tourists to the region within this year, said the Thai foreign minister, adding that members’ participation in the meeting will bring about prosperity to the region.
