Flooding in 14 provinces has been reduced


BANGKOK, 1 September 2014 – Flooding in 14 provinces has been mitigated Department chief, MR. Chaichai Promlert, said today that due to the heavy rain in many areas, seventeen provinces of Thailand have been hit by flood waters and 8,051 households have been impacted by the deluge that has led to 6 deaths. Fourteen provinces have been drained while 3 provinces remain under flood waters, including Pichit, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai. The flooding in Chiang Rai has impacted on 5,884 households, or 11,200 people. Floods have inundated cultivated areas of almost 300 million square meters. The Department continues to support victims, while recording the damage at the same time. However, victims can request assistance at the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation locally or call the direct emergency line 24/7 on 1784.
