BANGKOK, 29 Oct 2013 The national police chief has ordered a fact-finding committee be set up to look into Monday’s fire at Police Hospital in Bangkok, which resulted in an estimated 10 million baht in damage.

Royal Thai Police Commissioner Adul Saengsingkaew inspected the site of the fire, which burned for almost an hour, at San Sarutanon convention hall on the 9th floor of the Chaloem Phrakiat on Monday. The police chief indicated that electricity short-circuit was suspected initially. Officials have determined that the fire spread out quickly because the large quantity of books within the convention hall provided fuel for the fire.

Police General Aek Angsananon, deputy commissioner of the national police, said evidence collectors were still conducting detailed examinations of the site. Regarding news of CCTV footage having captured images of a man suspected to have started the fire, Pol. Gen. Aek said the fact-finding committee will look into the allegation.
