BANGKOK, 3 June 2015 – The Thai Energy Reform Watch Group has called on the government to enforce Section 44 of the temporary charter to tackle the energy crisis in Thailand and proposed a draft of the Petroleum Act.

70 representatives of the group on Wednesday announced the group’s proposed solutions to the Thai energy crisis. The solutions address national energy issues including the soon-to-expire petroleum concession, the petroleum potential of the Gulf of Thailand and the Petroleum Act. The group suggested that Section 44 of the temporary constitution be enforced to help prevent energy shortage when the concession expired.

The group also made suggestions on the government’s adjustment to the national energy price structure as well as an increase in LPG price in the transport sector.

The representatives said the group would submit their petroleum proposal to the prime minister on Thursday at Government House.
