BANGKOK, 13 March 2014 The Election Commission (EC) has approved the military reshuffle, which sees more than 200 high-ranking military officers transferred.
According to EC Secretary-General Puchong Nutrawong, the EC has endorsed the mid-year military reshuffle as proposed by the Defense Ministry. Upon the approval, a total of 203 generals will be transferred and appointed to other positions.
The Ministry of Defense will later release an official statement regarding the list.
The list was compiled by Permanent Secretary for Defense General Nipat Thonglek who earlier confirmed that the list had been done without any political intervention as the prime minister had left the decision solely to the military.
The EC has also approved the police reshuffle. According to the list, 175 police officers will be transferred, promoted, or appointed to new positions; as proposed by the Royal Thai Police.
