TRAT, 15th April 2018  – Many provinces have now performed religious activities to conclude the Songkran festival.

In the eastern province of Trat, large numbers of Thai and Cambodian Buddhists today gathered at Wat Khlong Phet in the capital district to offer alms to monks and take part in the making of sand pagodas, which are considered items of worship for Buddha.

In the Central province of Ang Thong, many families spent their Songkran holiday visiting Wat Muang in Wiset Chai Chan district to pay homage to the world’s biggest Buddha statue. Meanwhile in Pho Thong district, Wat Khun Inthapramun was filled with visitors who came to see the country’s second largest reclining Buddha statue.

The Songkran festival will come to an end today, but the government has extended the Thai New Year holiday to include Monday.
