Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation providing help to drought-affected people

ANGKOK – Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Director General Chatchai Promlert disclosed that provincial military units and relevant agencies have provided assistance to drought-affected people by mobilizing trucks carrying water to distribute water, drilling 80 artesian wells for reserve water to be used during the dry season. They have also implemented 2,229 water management projects which are expected to store 294.5 million cubic meters when completed and benefit more than 1.08 million households covering more than 3.19 million rais of farmland.

In addition, DDPM has organized 169 projects entitled Beautiful Canals with Clear Water Making Thai People Happy in 26 provinces to provide sustainable solutions covering all aspects of drought crisis problem.
