BANGKOK, 3 October 2013 The Constitutional Court on Wednesday rejected the request by a group of senators that it issue a temporary injunction against the approval of the charter amendment parts concerning the composition of the Senate.

The request was submitted by 40 members of the Senate who also sought court ruling for annulment of previous Senate endorsements of the charter amendment sections concerning Senate recruitment.

The Constitutional Court explained that similar applications had been rejected and there was no cause for the court to issue any temporary injunction against the prime minister’s submission of the amendments for royal approval.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra appeared pleased with the court’s decision, saying that ‘it was a good thing’.
