BANGKOK, 14 March 2014  National Security Council chief Pol Lt Paradorn Pattanathabutr has said the emergency decree will likely be revoked near the end of March.

He told the press that the proposal to end the state of emergency rule on March 22 will be discussed at the upcoming meeting on Monday. If the CMPO agrees with the proposal, the matter will be forwarded to the cabinet for approval on March 18.

He noted that there is a strong possibility that the Internal Security Act will be invoked in Bangkok in place of the emergency decree, as no violent attacks have been reported recently and the turmoil is beginning to loosen its grip.

The NSC chief further expressed confidence that the ISA will ensure safety and security during the Senator election on March 30 and the poll re-runs in April.
