BANGKOK, 30 September 2014  The Civil Court of Thailand has summoned Mr. Sathit Segal for a hearing after he had filed a petition against former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her deputy Chalerm Yubumrung over their orders to deport him out of Thailand.

Indian businessman Sathit Segal had been forced to leave the country for instigating unrest and civil disobedience after he joined the protest movement of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), a group aimed to topple the Yingluck government.

Mr. Sathit had been an active leader of the group and claimed that the charges against him were unjust, as the Civil Court had issued a temporary protection order (TPO) for all the protesters.

He has requested the Civil Court to drop the charges against him, claiming that the deportation orders were illegal. Even though Mr. Sathit is an Indian national, he had been living in Thailand for almost his entire life and has been credited by several of his colleagues as a man who had done many good acts for the Thai society.
