CHIANG MAI – Chiang Mai Zoo has recently debuted a newborn albino deer and it is giving the public the chance to name him.

The baby albino deer was born on 4th February. He is sired by albino deer Khun Phut and is a grandson of Khun Phet, the albino deer royally given to Chiang Mai Zoo by Her Majesty the Queen in 2009. Albino deer are protected by the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act of B.E. 2535.

The newborn’s birth is regarded as a success of Chiang Mai Zoo since the likelihood of breeding an albino deer is extremely low. The zoo is holding a naming competition for the baby deer which is now on display. The winner will get 2,000 baht in prize money and one-year free entrance to the zoo.
