Chaipattana Foundation to organize Tea Oil Camellia festival

BANGKOK, 01 October 2015 -The Chaipattana Foundation’s Secretary-General Sumet Tantivejkul, has announced an upcoming fair promoting tea oil, one of the initiatives of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

A launch ceremony was held at the foundation’s headquarters in Bang Phlat district of Bangkok. Dr. Sumet said the oil is extracted from tea oil seeds from China and can be used as cooking oil and as an ingredient in various beauty products. According to the Secretary-General, the princess has instructed the foundation to conduct a pilot project to promote the plant which would help farmers generate income.

He said farmers in the northern region will be encouraged to farm the plant, which would also help maintain the green agricultural area and protect the ecosystem.

The Tea Oil Camellia fair, will be open from October 31st to November 2nd at Siam Paragon Department Store in Bangkok.
