BANGKOK, 20 March 2015 – The chairperson of the Constitution Drafting Committee’s sub-committee on public participation has assured that all opinions will be incorporated into the drafting of the new charter that empowers the people.

Chairperson of the sub-committee Dr. Thawinwadee Bureekul on Thursday took part in a seminar that invited around 130 academics from state and private universities across the country to hear their opinions on the draft charter.

According to Dr. Thawinwadee, all ideas and suggestions will be viewed by the charter drafters who are currently reviewing each of the 315 articles of the draft Constitution — the process that is to be completed before April 17, after which the National Reform Council will have 10 days to deliberate the entire draft.

After the NRC’s review, any suggested changes will be passed back to the CDC to work on until the end of June. During this period, the public is also encouraged to send in their ideas for consideration.

Dr. Thawinwadee stated that the CDC has intended to offer a new charter that really empowers the people, delivers clean politics and promotes justice in the society.
