BANGKOK, March 18 – Crown Prince Philippe of Belgium and his delegation of public and private sector representatives met with Thai officials today to discuss trade and investment cooperation.
Meeting at a Bangkok hotel, the Thai team led by Commerce Minister Boonsong Teriyapirom briefed their Belgian guests with “Thailand at a glance”, an overall picture of the Thai economy and the launch of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
The parties discussed expanding trade and investment cooperation including the free trade agreement between Thailand and the European Union.
The crown prince, in his capacity as honorary chairman of the Belgian Foreign Trade Board, is leading the 200-member Belgian delegation to Thailand through Friday.
The prince and his wife, Princess Mathilde, are guests of Their Majesties the King and Queen, and are scheduled for a royal audience on Friday.
The royal entourage includes nearly 200 business leaders from the western European country, all who are keen on cooperating with Thailand on alternative and clean energy, health services and medical supplies, agro-industry and food, infrastructure and logistics.
