An ancient clay pottery has been discovered in Sisaket province, while locals believe

that the artifact would bring good luck to the community as it was found during the

Songkran or Thai new year period.

The urn-like item was discovered in Ban Nong Kham, Nam Kham sub-district,

Mueang district, Sisaket. It has a round shape and a diameter of about 1.5 meters. Its

finders suspect that the item may be more than a thousand years old.

According to Sa-ngiamsak Thongyun, chief of Nam Kham sub-district, locals have

been hearing loud gong-like noise in the area a few nights before the discovery of

the artifact. He said locals investigating the noise found a large hole, and decided to

excavate. The urn was consequently discovered.

The district office is having the Fine Arts Department send in specialists to inspect the

item
