Another victim of Trat attack succumbs to injuries

BANGKOK, 28 February 2014  The Ministry of Public Health has reported one more death from the armed attack in Trat province, raising the political death toll since November to 23. 

According to the Public Health Ministry’s update, the deadly gun attack on protesters of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) in Trat on February 22 has claimed another life following the deaths of two girls earlier. The latest victim is a 36-year-old woman, identified as Ms Pittawan Oonjai. She was taken into the intensive care unit after suffering from a gunshot wound in her stomach. She reportedly died this morning at the hospital from blood infection.

As a result, the total number of fatalities has risen to 23 since the start of political protests on November 30, divided into 20 cases in Bangkok and 3 in other provinces. Four of the dead were children.

Violent incidents have also led to 765 injuries so far, 722 in Bangkok and 43 elsewhere. As of now, 40 people remain hospitalized.
