All eyes on the Cabinet’s decision on the Dawei SEZ

CHIANG MAI, 30 June 2015,  Members of the press are closely following the Cabinet’s discussion regarding the 20-year national strategy for the Dawei Special Economic Zone (SEZ) cooperation.

The Cabinet will also look into the Thailand-Myanmar-Japan trilateral deal on the Dawei SEZ, negotiated by the National Economic and Social Development Board.

Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Gen. Tanasak Patimapragorn met with Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj. In addition to Dawei SEZ investment, they discussed the Thailand-India Free Trade Agreement and the Thailand-Myanmar-India trilateral highway corridor project.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance proposed a bill to exempt personal tax for civil servants who choose to receive retirement pensions. The Ministry of Transport also sought approval on international land transport infrastructure projects.
