RANONG, June 3 — Nine more bodies believed to be Myanmar migrants were found floating off the coast of Thailand’s southern province of Ranong Sunday.

Ranong police said they were informed by residents of Koh Chang in the provincial seat that there were bodies floating near beach.  The police then inspected the scene and initially found eight bodies, six men and two women, not far from the beach but the body of another woman was found floating further offshore.

All were believed to have been dead for at least five days. There was no signs of violence on the bodies, so police initially believed that they died due to drowning.

Police were investigating whether the nine bodies were related in any way to the three bodies of Myanmar women found earlier, and 41 Myanmar migrants that were rescued by the authorities on Friday after their boat capsized and sank as they sailed from Myanmar’s Kawthaung .

Ranong police said the Myanmar authorities were due to come to Ranong Hospital Monday to work on autopsies and investigating incident.
