45 injured as HK-bound THAI flight hits turbulence


BANGKOK, Aug 30 – Thirty passengers and 15 crew members were injured this morning when a Hong Kong-bound Thai Airways International (THAI) flight hit sudden turbulence.

Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt said he was informed by THAI President Sorajak Kasemsuvan about the accident affecting flight TG600 which departed Suvarnabhumi airport at 8.16am.

The injured were rushed to hospital while the empty aircraft was flown back to Bangkok for inspection.

Mr Chadchart said parts of the ceilings were hit by some passengers. One crew member had a broken collarbone – the most serious injury reported.
