KANCHANABURI, 21 August 2015 – Over 300 administrative officials and villagers witnessed the release of wild animals at Salakpra Wildlife Sanctuary.

The activity is part of the Surasee 9th Infantry Division’s forest conservation project, a tribute to Her Majesty the Queen. The animals totaled 164 and included various types of deer and birds from four breeding stations in the provinces of Chonburi, Phetchaburi, Uthai Thani and Ratchaburi.

Salakpra Wildlife Sanctuary was chosen for reintroduction due to its biodiversity and remote location away from residential areas. Participants in the program have created food sources for the animals by growing different kinds of trees in the sanctuary, such as mango, cordia, and noni.

Locals and officials hope the animals will reproduce and create future generations of native fauna in the near future.
