10,400 Thai Muslims granted quota to the Hajj this year

BANGKOK, 25 May 2015 – The Department of Religious Affairs has announced a total of 10,400 Thai muslims have been granted quota by Saudi Arabia to attend Hajj Pilgrimage 2015 in Mecca, according to Director-General of the Department of Religious Affairs Kritsayaphong Siri.

Mr.Kritsayaphong, also secretary-general of the Hajj Affairs Committee of Thailand, said that the announcement of the quota will facilitate the selected people to prepare themselves for the trip including learning of rules and conditions set by Saudi Arabia.

“Renting accommodations in Mecca for the participating Thai Muslims has been done by 80 per cent. The government has also discussed with the Transport Ministry and relevant authorities to add four extra charter flights. These flights will depart from Narathiwat Airport and Hat Yai Airport twice a day during 16-17 August 2015,” explained Mr.Kritsayaphong.
